Occidental Lanzarote Mar has large rooms for families with kids. For young families travelling with babies there is a Wii (subject to deposit) and a baby kit (free of charge) in the room, consisting of a changing set, a baby bath, baby monitor and bottle warmer.

Special check-in for children at the hotel provided. Outdoor play area with swings and slides, 2 children swimming pools with various slides (3 splash lanes) and an indoor children playground with a ball pool and rockodrome climbing wall. The hotel also has a human table football where children and adults can play together.

Lanzarote is a volcanic Canary Island and all year round sea & sun holiday destination. It is famous for its beaches and resorts, caves and Timanfaya Volcano National Park, fresh sea food and fancy cacti.

7 days is an average time for Lanzarote holidays to be able to relax, enjoy the ocean and visit main attractions.

The best way to see the islands points of interest is to have a rental car. Public transport also available linking the main cities. Day-trip from Playa Blanca to the neighbour island Fuerteventura is also popular among those who stay longer on the Lanzarote.

Lanzarote Timanfaya National Park

Lanzarote Timanfaya National Park

Timanfaya Volcano National Park is located in Lanzarote, one of the Canary Islands, in the south-west of the island. The park area is entirely covered with volcanic soil and has surreal moon spirit landscape.

There is only one active volcano, Timanfaya. The volcanic activity continues nowadays. Some surface areas reach temperatures of 100°C. Temperature of up to 277°C have been recorded at a depth of just 10cm, while 610°C at the depth of 13 metres. Some geysers can be seen there.

Visitors are not allowed to walk freely around the Timanfaya Volcano National Park. There is a specially designed route through the most spectacular areas of the National Park for guided tours only. Coach trip includes the entry fee, audio guide.

Lanzarote Jameos Del Agua

Jameos Del Aqua is a a natural site of Lanzarote island, a part of 6 km long lava tube, that was formed during the last volcanic eruptions 300 years ago. It has been transformed by the local artist and architect, César Manrique, into the art, culture and tourism center of Lanzarote. Jameos del Agua consists of tropical gardens, bars and a restaurant surrounding an underground salt lake, museum and auditorium.

Jameos del Agua has become famous for its cave lake inhabited by blind, albino crabs (Munidopsis Polimorpha), which is not found anywhere else in the world. This prehistoric cave is led by narrow stone steps. The lake is slightly illuminated by the sun and the best time to visit is between 12.00 and 13.00 when sun light goes through cave window.

Submarine Safaris

Submarine Safaris is solely dedicated to submarine dives and explore the Atlantic Ocean. Real submarine goes over 30m depth. The dive will take approximately 1 hour. Each dive has a guide on-board who will give an explanation about the dive and submarine.

Personal seat provided during a trip in front of large viewing ports. Each guest receives his/her own personalised Diving Certificate after the dive. Departure from Puerto Calero marina.

Diving Museo Atlantico Underwater Museum

Atlantico Underwater Museum is the only underwater sculpture museum in Europe. It is located 12 metres deep down pristine waters near the south coast of Lanzarote, in the Bahía de Las Coloradas. It is very special surrealist museum accessible only by boat and diving underwater, by swimming inn between the sculptures.

The Museo Atlántico consists of 10 different groups of sculptures. There are 35 human figures walking towards a wall. The models used for these sculptures are residents of Lanzarote. There is also the famous Raft of Lampedusa, a reference to the current refugee crisis. There are several hybrid sculptures - half human, half cactus. The sculptures of a couple taking a selfie and some photographers refer to the use of technology in modern society.

Technically it is an easy dive 14 m deep on quiet water, suitable for divers of any level. The tour includes a briefing and explanation about the dive and statues. A guide follow a specific route that takes around all the different groups of sculptures. The dive time is around 45 minutes.

Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park

Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park is a western-style theme park in Lanzarote for the whole family in Playa Blanca. It is also the only zoo in the Canary Islands with pools and water attractions for adults and children. Exhibits, birds shows and dolphins and sea lion interactions available.

There is a waterpark where you can swim with sea lions when they are not involved in the performance. In the zoo you can also admire the white tiger. For the youngest visitors, there is plenty of entertainment in the Far West area, such as riding a pony, searching for gold in a Native American settlement or canoeing.

There are several restaurants in the zoo where you can eat, but only in a fast food restaurant you can watch a unique performance with cowboy whips and lasso.

Día de la Cruz – 3rd May

Dia de la Cruz is one of the most respected religious festivities in Lanzarote. The Day of the Cross is held each year at the beginning of May, and the manifestations related to this event refer to parades carrying crosses throughout Lanzarote. These crosses stand out by their lush floral decorations. Another highlight of the event refers to the fact people parade and dance dressed in traditional costumes.

Romería de San Isidro – 15th May

Uga, located in southern Lanzarote, is the stage for the Romería de San Isidro that takes place on 15th May. This festivity features a colourfully decorated procession accompanied by camels (as Uga is where camels are bred and raised) and various folklore performances.

Corpus Christi

After Carnival, Corpus Christi has to be Lanzarote's most colourful event.
As with most fiestas and festivals on the island the best place to take in the celebrations is in the capital, Arrecife.
On the Saturday afternoon following Corpus Christi islanders create incredibly intricate carpets of sea salt, in elaborate and colourful designs, all along the roads and pavements around the Church of San Ginés (adjacent to the El Charco Area).
The next day a major procession proceeds from the Church across the carpets of salt. So these works of art are visible for one day only.

San Juan

Saint John’s celebrations mark the beginning of summer on the night from the 23rd to the 24th of June. During this night, huge bonfires are traditionally lit all over the island and corncobs are roasted, the festivities being accompanied by folkloric music and dance.
